Description

Rutherford College has been welcoming international students from all over the world for more than 20 years. As a multi-cultural secondary school of 1400, we are big enough to offer a wide range of opportunities whilst being small enough to care. Our purpose-built International Village provides a place where international students can gather and where our dedicated team of experienced educators work to ensure that all international students are happy and thrive.

Tuition costs

2025 - $16,750 (including tuition and administration fees).

Accommodation

Homestay provider is Lake Panorama Student Homestays who has worked closely with us for more than 10 years. 1 Jan – 1 July 2025 homestay weekly fee is $400 per week plus initial administration charges.

Student support

Our staff prioritise student care and our international students receive individualised support, care, information, and guidance. Our careers department support students to make informed choices about subjects and pathways into tertiary education while our health care professionals, include full time counsellors and nurses.

English as second language

We offer 8 different English Language programmes from Foundation Level through to English for Academic Purposes, providing flexibility of movement between levels and allowing us to cater for students at all levels of proficiency. Students who require English Language support receive up to 8 hours of English Language per week.

Sports

Believing that extracurricular activities are an integral part of a student’s educational experience we offer and promote a wide range of sporting, cultural, performing arts and leadership opportunities. International students are encouraged and supported to participate in these, and their representation and participation adds to their holistic experience.

The minimum English language entry requirement for students depends on their academic goal, length of study and age. Application information and online form is available on our website.

Features of the local area

Our location on Te Atatu Peninsula, approximately 10 minutes drive to Downtown Auckland, offers breathtaking views of the upper Waitemata Harbour. We have public transport on our doorstep and being situated near the Waitakere Ranges means that bush walks and visits to beaches are just a short drive away.
