We offer our international students a world class experience, both inside and outside the classroom. 

We have excellent, well-established international programmes and enjoy helping our students to improve their English, achieve their academic goals and experience our beautiful country. 

We are proud of our 138-year history as highly successful schools, providing strong academic achievement with highly qualified teachers. Our classrooms are modern and well equipped with specialist learning resources and new technology.

Tuition costs

From $3,750 for one term to $15,000 per year

Accommodation

International students have the option of accommodation with a friendly, safe local homestay family, or in our school boarding houses, situated on the school grounds. Both options cost approximately $7500 per semester.

International students are welcomed into our warm and friendly school communities, where we provide a safe, supportive and secure environment, with caring students and staff. Students are offered support from dedicated international staff, as well as an extended support network of teachers, guidance counsellors, nurses, career advisors and more.

Sports

We  have many sporting clubs available to international students, including Hockey, Rugby, Football, Swimming, Rowing, Equestrian, Surfing, Basketball, Athletics, Squash, Tennis, Triathlon, Trap-shooting, Adventure Racing, Volleyball and Cycling.

Centrally located in the heart of Whangarei, Northland’s largest city of 85,000. It is a safe, clean and friendly place to live, with New Zealand’s warmest climate.  Our region is stunningly beautiful, with unspoilt beaches, harbours and forests. We welcome visitors from all countries and cultures around the world.

Once you arrive in Auckland, it is only a 30 minute flight or two hour drive to Whangarei, making it easy to travel to and from our school.

Curriculum

Students can choose from our extensive range of curriculum subjects, including both traditional and non-traditional classes, as well as many opportunities for cultural and sporting success. Optional subjects include Outdoor Education, Design and Visual Communication, Music, Art, Photography, Drama, and Te Reo Maori. WGHS offer Dance, Fashion Design, French and Spanish.
