For more than 600 years, Durham School has been at the heart of education in the United Kingdom, giving its pupils the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in the future.
This leading independent co-educational school educates girls and boys aged 3 to 18 in a caring and supportive atmosphere where inspirational teaching and outstanding care combine to help each child reach their potential.
The School provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for around 600 pupils of 20 nationalities.
The School’s recent academic results put them among an elite band of North East schools. This year, Durham recorded record breaking exam results with an impressive 70% of all pupils achieving A*-B grades at A Level.

Application process

All overseas admissions are subject to; satisfactory references /reports, entrance assessments (English, Mathematics) and a Skype interview. The minimum IELTS score required for Sixth Form entry is 5.5.

The historic buildings are surrounded by beautiful green spaces, yet they are only a short stroll from the prestigious Durham University and the World Heritage Site of Durham Cathedral.
Durham City itself is an historic, vibrant university town in the culturally rich North East of England. London, Edinburgh, York and Newcastle are easily accessible by road and rail, while Newcastle International Airport (40km) and Durham Tees Valley Airports are within easy driving distance.
