MISSION

The mission of the New York Film Academy is to educate students interested in the field of visual storytelling. New York Film Academy courses have been designed to increase students’ creativity and technical expertise through hands-on and classroom instruction. The Academy’s goal is to enrich its students as visual storytellers by helping them realize their personal artistic visions. New York Film Academy’s expectations center on the growth of each student as a creative individual.

OBJECTIVES

New York Film Academy has set the following objectives to fulfill its stated mission:

  •         To provide a learning environment conducive to creative thought and artistic expression, as well as hands-on collaboration.
  •         To help students better appreciate the art and craft of visual storytelling so that they may develop as artists and better express their personal artistic visions.
  •         To empower students to find and develop a creative voice.
  •         To teach and develop new capabilities in students’ approach to the art and craft of visual storytelling.
Application process

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

New York Film Academy Australia welcomes students from all over the world to study Diploma and Advanced Diploma Programs, adult workshops and high school camps at our Gold Coast campus.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Diploma of Screen and Media

  • High School Certificate or Equivalent (see below)
  • English Language Proficiency at Appropriate Level (e.g. Academic IELTS 5.5 or Equivalent)
  • In-person or Skype Interview with Faculty Delegate
  • Certified Copy of Passport

Equivalence to High School Certificate

  • Australian Qualification at or Above AQF Level 4 OR
  • Completion of Core Skills Profile for Adult - Numeracy and Reading at or Above Exit Level 3

Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media

  • Diploma of Screen and Media (NYFA) or Equivalent (See Below)
  • In-person or Skype Interview with Faculty Delegate

Equivalence to NYFAA Diploma

  • CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media OR
  • Worked in Relevant Part of Industry for Min. Two Years AND
  • Completion of Core Skills Profile for Adult - Numeracy and Reading at or Above Exit Level 3

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE ESSAY

The narrative statement should be a mature and self-reflective essay (min 750 words) detailing the applicant’s reasons for pursuing a Diploma in the visual arts. The essay should take into account the individual’s history, formative creative experiences, contemporary influences and inspirations, and personal artistic dreams.

DEPOSIT

  • Upon acceptance to the program a deposit ​fee ​of ​25% is required to reserve your place and issue your CoE. This will be applied to your first semester program tuition fee.

SHORT TERM WORKSHOPS (NON ACCREDITED)

  • Must be 18 Years of Age or Older
  • Copy of Passport or Government-approved Photo ID
  • Phone Interview with Recruitment Representative
  • Upon acceptance to the program a deposit of $500 is required to reserve your place. This will be applied to your program tuition fee.

The Gold Coast is truly an exciting study destination for students to immerse themselves in Australia’s unique culture and relaxed lifestyle.

Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, is a short drive north, and offers easy access to a variety of natural and artistic attractions and scenery, including Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Museum and Science-centre. Beautiful Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, and Byron Bay are great for weekend getaways.
