Description | New Plymouth Boys High School is a boys' school of 1450 students, including boarding houses that have capacity for 190 students at all levels. We offer ESOL, Spanish, Maori and English as language subjects and offer NCEA at years 11-13. Outdoor Education is offered in Years 11 and 12.. We have a proud Academic and sporting record, and boys are encouraged to seek excellence in all that they do. Leadership opportunities abound here and many Outdoor Education pursuits are available. The Boarding house is at the heart of the school, and many International students choose to have this as their accommodation. Homestay options are also available for our International students. |

Application process | Students complete an online application form and send details of their school record and accommodation requirements, which, once assessed/approved, a provisional offer of acceptance is forwarded with an invoice seeking full payment of fees in advance.. Once fees have been received, the formal offer of acceptance and proof of receipt is forwarded, which is then used to seek a visa to attend NPBHS.

Features of the local area | New Plymouth is an attractive city of about 70000 people. In 2017 the region was voted the second best in the world to visit by Lonely Planet travel magazine. Safe beaches and a mountain nearby we offer the best of all worlds. A moist temperate climate (with no snow or frosts), with an average summer temperature of 22 degrees and a winter average of 14 degrees. New Plymouth has been voted one of the most liveable small cities to live in. It has plenty of infrastructure to ensure our lifestyle here is a major feature. |
Curriculum | NCEA (Years 11 - 13) IELTS Test Preparation. The school offers over 160 subjects for students to select from, varying from academic subjects like Physics, Calculus, to trade based subjects like woodwork. |
