Description | Carey is one of Australia’s leading co-educational schools with a whole-school 50:50 gender balance that fosters the development of confidence and self-esteem in both girls and boys. Carey offers both the VCE and IB programs, with Year 12 results consistently placing Carey amongst the top schools in Victoria. At Carey, we aim to develop wise, independent, motivated young people who will engage with and lead in their local, national and global communities. Carey is known for being innovative and leading the way in best practice teaching and learning. The school’s approach to Student Centred Learning is a philosophy that requires students to be active, responsible participants in their own learning, with the teacher working as mentor, facilitator and guide. Student welfare is paramount at Carey. The school is structured to ensure that every student is well supported by our pastoral care system, with each student assigned a staff mentor. In addition, international students are supported by a Home Stay Coordinator, parent group and student association. |

Student support | Support services for International StudentsLiving away from your family or getting used to a new school system can be very challenging. Carey provides an extensive support network for International Students including a student Mentor, Head of House, Head of Student Welfare, Guardian and Home Stay provider. Carey School Counsellors also play an important role in helping students, particularly during stressful or emotional times. They are all registered psychologists and very experienced. Carey Local and Overseas Students Association (CLOSA) is a student run group that recognises the need for students from overseas and their parents to be supported as they settle in at Carey. CLOSA runs a range of social activities and cultural celebrations throughout the year for parents. Two of the Senior School Student Leaders have a specific responsibility for organising CLOSA activities and they will make sure students always have someone to go to if they need help or advice. |
