Description | Where town meets country. Excellent area for students wanting to study in a safe, caring, typical Kiwi life style location with quality homestays to suit each individual. In the country with animals (horses) or close to school/ town but close enough to Auckland City to meet up with friends, shopping or visit a favourite restaurant, Auckland CBD is approx 1.25 hour by train/bus from Pukekohe, 60 mins by car and only 30 mins from Auckland Airport. Our School enrols International students from around the world and our local students offer a friendly welcome and a great ambassador system so integration is happy and English developed very quickly. We offer places for International students up to 2% of our school roll, so their school progress and pastoral care is personal and of the upmost importance to the International Department. We are successful in NCEA at all levels and have excellent options for choice including 9 Science subjects, one of the best Art/Drama Departments in Auckland area, Music including 8 school competition bands, Media Studies, Engineering, Economics/ Law, Business and Management, Small Esol classes, Popular Outdoor Education/ Sport Leadership programmes to name but a few. |

Application process | Students are required to have basic English knowledge (written and verbal). A final course/ year level placement is made following an assessment from the ESOL department once students arrive here in our school as per the The Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016 (Amendments 2019). Enrolments are taken at the start of every term throughout the year. Features of the local area | School is located in the town of Pukekohe, which has a population of around 35,000. Situated 30 miles (50 kilometres) south of the city of Auckland, it is just a 35 minute drive from Auckland International Airport. Pukekohe is the home of motor sport, horse racing, with a cinema, boutique and high street store shopping, lots of restaurants, cafes and superb cuisine from around the globe as well as locally grown Pukekohe produce. Since becoming part of Auckland, Pukekohe has grown and is developing very quickly offering 3 main shopping areas/centres (quality chain stores), international and local cuisine cafes/restaurants, sports/gym facilities, golf courses, cinema/movies, 10 pin bowling, theatre, a motor/horse racing track, rugby Stadium, plus many local sports clubs and outdoor/water sport activities less than 20 mins away. |
