The College provides a caring environment for more than 1900 day and homestay students from Kindergarten to Year 12, preparing them to be leaders and productive participants in our rapidly changing world.

The emphasis at every year level at Kardinia International College is on academic rigour and we are renowned for the outstanding results achieved in the Year 12 examinations each year.

Integral to our success is that we encourage and expect positive student attitudes, understanding and actions towards each other, our community and the wider global environment.

Tuition costs

Based on 2017 Fees - Tuition Fees for International students are $20,000 per annum.

Accommodation

We have a fulltime Homestay Coordinator who manages and arranges all our International students who live with local families in homestay.

Student support

To help overseas students familiarise themselves with the college campus, its facilities and their fellow EAL classmates. Overseas students arrive at the College two days prior to the commencement of school.

On the first day of the orientation programme the overseas students will:

 

  • Be welcomed by the Principal, the Overseas Student Co-ordinator and Homestay Co-ordinator.
  • Be involved in a variety of activities that will help students feel at home.
  • Have a tour of the College– including canteen, Student Services, the Computer Services Centre, etc.
  • Be fitted for College and Sports uniforms.
  • Have an English test so that ESL classes can be chosen accordingly.

 

On the second day of orientation, overseas students are interviewed individually to discuss academic plans and goals and to explore any difficulties with regard to language.

From the beginning of their Kardinia International College experience, overseas students will be part of the normal school programme. The Overseas Students Co-ordinator and the Homestay Co-ordinator will be assigned to assist any overseas students having difficulty with the first few days of school. The aim of the College is to integrate all students into one unified student community as quickly as possible.

Sports

The College offers a wide variety of co-curricular activities covering sport, academic and artistic pursuits. The activities listed below are organised and supported by members of the College community including teachers, ancillary staff and parents. In some instances, specialists from outside the College are employed to ensure the viable operation of popular activities. Co-curricular activities are usually conducted outside of class time, before and after school and on weekends. Participation by students is optional and voluntary.
The following co-curricular activities are offered:

 

  • Basketball, Tennis, Cricket, Badminton, Diving, Fencing, Hockey, Judo, Football, Soccer, Equestrian, Yoga, Personal Training, Touch Rugby;
  • Drama productions, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Concert Band, Guitar Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble and singing groups;
  • French Club, Japanese Cultural Club, French Newspaper, The Word (English), DAV Debating, Maths tutoring, Bookies Club, Tournament of Minds and Robocup;
  • Cooking Club, Photography, Chess Club, Social Justice, Media Crew, Woodwork, Karen Homework Club.

 

Facilities

Our main, spacious 22 hectare campus is located in Bell Post Hill, Geelong, the 11 hectare rural campus for Year 5 students is located at Lovely Banks and the 2.5 hectare campus for the eight week Year 9 program is located in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Our world class facilities include; The Katsumata Centre our 1500 seat theatre and gymnasium complex, The Goodfellow Aquatic Centre, including a 25 metre indoor pool and cafe, The School of Performing Arts, The Learning Commons, Six ovals and six tennis courts, a 1560 seat outdoor Amphitheatre and much more.

Application process

Kardinia International College’s application for international students includes the following;

  • Completion of the Overseas Admission Form (available on our website www.kardinia.vic.edu.au)
  • Provision of academic reports for the last 12 months
  • AEAs Test

 

The College will contact the candidate for an interview with the Principal, if appropriate.

Kardinia International College is situated in Geelong, which is in the state of Victoria. This city is approximately 80kms from Melbourne and is Victoria’s second largest city and port. It is located on the shores of Corio Bay and offers a host of leisure activities such as surf beaches, gold courses, sporting clubs, theatres and a yacht club.

Curriculum

As an International Baccalaureate World school, we offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to students in Years Kindergarten-6, a vertical curriculum based on the guidelines of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority to students in Years 7-10 and both the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) and the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) to students in Years 11 and 12.
