Description | A large well regarded Auckland secondary school with 2,200 students, including over 100 international students from up to 20 different countries. We produce students who are highly motivated and responsible, and are well prepared for successful university study. Our school is innovative and student centred; students are focused and enjoy their studies. |
Tuition costs | The tuition fee is NZ $17,500 plus NZ $2,000 administration fee, $500 caregiver fee, plus $340 weekly homestay fee. Fees cover tuition and most school activities. Compulsory medical/travel insurance is NZ $599 for full 12 month cover. Extra costs will be for stationery, school uniform (Years 9 -12) and examination entry fees. Some practical subjects will require class material fees. |

Homestay. We provide homestay in comfortable homes with caring families. We employ two Homestay Co-ordinators to monitor student care in homestays. We provide 24/7 emergency care. Students are placed in homes in walking distance or a short bus ride to school where possible. |
Student support | International student numbers are monitored so a high quality service can be maintained, with regular reporting back to parents. Parents have access to their children’s progress via a login and password to our Parent Portal. School reports are issued 3 times per year and parents can read these online. All students have access to email and internet. |

Sports | Students participate in a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, badminton, rugby, hockey, cycling, tennis, table tennis and swimming. Students have the opportunity to be involved in a very wide range of cultural activities including music groups, dance groups, debating and virtual reality club. Most years the college undertakes a major drama production which provides a range of theatrical experiences for students. |
Facilities | The school has beautiful modern facilities including a heated swimming pool, tennis/hockey astroturf, sportsfields and a new $4 million gymnasium. |

Features of the local area | Pakuranga College is located in a quiet attractive suburb of East Auckland with high quality housing. The school has spacious grounds and a lush green environment. Close to pretty beaches and shopping malls, it is 30 minutes from the CBD and the international airport. It is a safe and family friendly part of Auckland and families spend much time in outdoor leisure activities such as sailing, walking and sports. |
Curriculum | Pakuranga College teaches a full high school programme including NCEA. Students may study from one term (10 weeks) to a semester (6 months) to one year or more, and may enter the school at any time of year. Senior students study 5-6 subjects chosen from over 40 different subjects. Students may choose from a comprehensive art programme including photography, design and painting. They can study dance, drama and music. Popular technology subjects include robotics, electronics, graphics and automotive technology. Media students can use a dedicated film studio. In addition to the usual sciences, we also teach Earth and Space Science. Our popular Outdoor Education programme includes aspects of sailing, kayaking, mountain biking and rock climbing. ESOL is taught at all levels. Advice on subjects is provided individually to each student. The school is equipped with high speed broadband and students use the internet and digital devices in lessons. They are expected to bring a laptop or ipad to school. |
